A Message of Support from Bill Shorten, MP

One hundred years ago, more than sixty thousand of our fellow Australians lost their lives in the First World War.

Hundreds of thousands more came home wounded, with missing limbs or ruined lungs, or bearing the invisible scars of trauma.

No country town was untouched by tragedy, no suburban street spared from loss.

And – as a nation – we promised never to forget those who lost their lives in Australia’s name.

A hundred years later, I’m proud to support the Bears to School program which will help educate a new generation of young Australians about the bravery and sacrifice of the Anzacs.

And I encourage you to give generously to this initiative, to donate a bear to your local school and help fulfil Australia’s oldest promise: that at the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

Lest We Forget.
